Taking great pictures isn’t as difficult as you might think It’s certainly NOT the black art some experts would have you believe.  Everyone who has ever picked up a camera has got to a point where they know enough to know, they don't know enough!

How they get past that point depends on the individual,  their circumstances and to some degree the technology and facilities available to them.   As with most things, a little knowledge about how to use your camera can make a huge difference to the result of pressing the shutter.

Regardless of what you photograph, landscapes, family portraits, or just for your own pleasure, these workshops will quickly improve the quality of your images.  With presentations, demonstrations and plenty of opportunity to practice, practical help will be readily available, there will also be assignments to go out and try, whatever your level of expertise.

“I didn’t know I could be this good at taking photos”

The workshops are designed for everyone who wants to know more about how their camera works and DOES NOT want to wade through the manual to find how to get at the good stuff that will make the difference between a ‘snap’ and “a stunning work of art!”  A lot of the elements of the workshop will not be found in any manual but come from many diverse sources!

There’s no complex maths to understand either, the most complex calculation will be something like adding +3 to -3! the answer by the way is zero.

“I’ve not used AUTO at all since learning how to use manual settings”

The photography workshops will cover;

Composition, the rules of composition and how to break them!

Exposure, Aperture, Depth of field- how they work together to affect the image you get

ISO, white balance how to use your camera as a light meter.

Flash, when to use it, how to use it, different effects it can give

Cameras and lenses, auto focus, zoom and macro

...and much more

There will only be a limited number

 of places on each workshop,

please email to reserve a place

Photography is like “Painting with light”, technology can compensate for many things but as yet, it can't compose a great picture for you or show you how to best use light you have.  Yes, sometimes you can fix the picture on the computer, or, you can learn how much easier it is to get it right in the view finder and enjoy spending the time you would have spent fixing it, taking more pictures!

What you’ll need

A camera, (digital or film), the camera manufacturers would have you believe that you MUST have the latest all singing all dancing technology and for some shots, you might!  But for the other 90%, the camera you have is probably more than good enough, it only depends on what you want to photograph and when!

For these workshops, you don’t need a darkroom or a studio and it doesn't matter if the camera you use is a throwaway camera, point and shoot, vintage large format camera, mobile phone or a digital camera the price of a new luxury car!

Costs

The workshop runs for 4 sessions, first and third Thursday of the month and costs only £60.

It also comes with a guarantee; If you can’t see an improvement in your images, you can do all the workshops again and again after that if you wish.  Even local authority courses are over £100, and, according to one of our members who went on one while doing our workshops,

“The ‘intermediate photography course’ I did  at my local college was a waste of money and time, it concentrated on fixing it on the computer rather than getting it right in the camera!”

We’ll show you how to get it right in the camera!

Tea, coffee and juice are provided as well as some rather good cake!

Location

Weedon, Near Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire).  doors open around 7pm, for 8pm start.  For more details, to book a place and directions to the location,  Please contact Max by clicking here
